If you are a child of the 70’s or 80’s you likely not familiar with Olu (aka Johnny Venus) and WowGr8 (aka Doctur Dot) the two men behind the act known as EarthGang. This talented duo met in high school in Atlanta and attended Hampton University together where they honed their craft through live performances. Their sound has matured and is best described as a modern day Outkast/Pharycyde hybrid, high praise but accurate. They ride lyrics melodically and can deliver a flow that’s so in the pocket its easy to miss the lyrical dexterity on display.
Signed to J-Cole’s Dreamville label they are surrounded by talented label mates such as Ari Lennox and Cole himself. Similar to the Dungeon Family, they are part of their own ATL based collective, Spillage Village including the uber talented emcee JID and one of the modern male voices of Neo-Soul, 6lack.
